Captivating Encaustic/ 2-DAY WORKSHOPS/ ALL Supplies Included!
This class is geared towards expanding your creative side by working with encaustic painting- an ancient beeswax-based medium and combining it with other mediums including watercolor, ink, pigment sticks, collage, and photo transfers. Specialized instruction will focus on specific ways to make interesting artwork using the art elements and various brushwork techniques including glazing, dry brush, scraping, and layering.

Here are just some of the things you will learn how to do:
Create both Smooth and Textural surfaces.
Color Mixing and extending -for sumptuous translucent and opaque layers.
Use encaustic gesso, Sumi ink, and pigment sticks with encaustic.
Add layers of collage and multiple ways to create depth in encaustic.
Sgraffito and intarsia in encaustic.
Photo embedding and direct transfers.
You will leave with 6 small encaustic mixed media paintings that you created in class!

Leslie has taught Encaustic Painting for over 15 years including at The Austin Museum of Art’s Art School at Laguna Gloria, The University of Texas at Austin, BlueMoon Glassworks, and The Athenaeum in La Jolla. She has been awarded multiple special artist project grants in both Austin and San Diego to expand her interdisciplinary work. Her teaching style is upbeat, fun, and informative. You will learn a lot while having a wonderful experience.
